breaks

“Think of the heart as a vessel. If you fill the heart with something that isn’t meant to be there, it breaks. When your car is low on fuel, what do you do? You fill it with petrol. Now, what would happen if you decided instead to pour orange juice in your gas tank? The car would break. Similarly, what causes immense heartbreak is not the loss of something or a hardship but it’s filling that vessel with the wrong thing.
The deepest part of your heart, in Arabic it is known as lubb (لب), is the tank of the heart. Filling this deepest part with anything other than Allah causes heartbreak. Losing someone or a hardship causes a heart-cut or a heart-bruise but not heartbreak. That’s not to say that something that bruises your heart shouldn’t hurt, but it shouldn’t destroy you or lead you to think self-destructive thoughts. Whatever you have in that deepest part of your heart is what you worship and what you take as your Ilaah (God). Allah is Al-Hayyu, Al-Qayyuum, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of Existence. Keep Him at your core and know that He is always there.”
I think I’ve found the reason why I feel like something goes wrong. When my life seems more like a burden than a gift, maybe it’s because I filled my tank with no petrol but juice. I changed my petrol to something cheapper and I filled it to my tank. 😔
